Security/Safety Tips:
  • Use case-hardened steel or chains to secure gates etc...
  • Instruct floor personnel to make frequent eye contact with customers.
  • High visibility discourages shoplifters.
    • Keep displays and counters low.
    • Mount mirrors in corners and isles.
  • Place expensive items in the centre of the store away from exits.
  • Be aware and watch customers
    • Customers who are nervous.
    • Have wandering eyes.
    • Are loitering or lingering in hidden areas.
  • Limit access to keys which disarm fire exits and security crash bar alarms.
  • Display signs at entrances and exits indicating that safes require secondary keys not in possession of employees.
  • Check closets and restrooms before you lock up.
  • After hours, light the interior of your business well enough that you could see someone inside.
  • Install Alarm to prevent burglary & Save money...
    • Many insurance companies will give you a discount on your insurance when you have a security alarm system.
    • Check your insurance policy - an alarm system may be a requirement.
  • Install CCTV System
    • If a burglar is still determined to break in, early detection and video/image of thief helps keep losses to a minimum.
